Job Description

Broad Oak Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and creative SENCO / Year 6 Class Teacher to join our warm, committed and forward‑thinking team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an inclusive school where professional development is encouraged, teamwork is strong, and every child is genuinely valued.

You will be joining a highly collaborative SEND team made up of four experienced class‑based SENCOs, supported by dedicated administration time to help manage the day‑to‑day coordination of SEND provision. Together, we work closely with pupils, families and staff to ensure that every learner receives the support they need to thrive.

We are also delighted to be developing a brand‑new, purpose-built SEN Unit, due to open in September 2027, offering excellent opportunities for future leadership, innovation and growth within SEND at Broad Oak.

🌟 A Role with Real Opportunity

This position is ideal for an aspiring or existing SENCO who is ready to take their next step in leadership. You will join our established SENCO team and play an important role in shaping and further developing SEND provision across the school at a particularly exciting time in our journey.

The role includes teaching responsibility in Year 6, with one dedicated day per week to undertake SENCO duties.

As a member of our middle leadership team, you will contribute to whole‑school development, working alongside supportive and experienced colleagues. Strong, proven classroom practice in Year 5 or 6 is essential.

We will also support successful candidates to complete the NPQ for SENCOs if this qualification is not already held.

We are looking for someone who:

📖 Has a passion for teaching and learning
🤝 Builds strong, positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
🎯 Strives for the highest standards and the best outcomes for all learners
🎨 Embraces creativity and innovation in the classroom
👥 Works collaboratively and contributes positively to our school community

If you are committed to inclusion, eager to develop your leadership skills, and excited by the chance to help shape the future of SEND at Broad Oak, we would be delighted to hear from you.
